We are continuing to see reports of various scams affecting residents locally, and we’d like to remind everyone to stay alert. 📦 Fake Royal Mail / Delivery Texts You may receive a message saying a parcel cannot be delivered and asking you to pay a small fee or click a link. ➡️ These are scam messages. Royal Mail will not ask for payment via unsolicited text links. ✔ Always go directly to the official website if you are unsure. 💳 Banking Scams Fraudsters may contact you pretending to be from your bank, often claiming there is an issue with your account. ➡️ They may ask for passwords, PINs or tell you to move money. ✔ Your bank will never ask for sensitive information or request you to transfer money to a “safe account”. 📱 QR Code Scams Scammers are now placing fake QR codes in public places (e.g. parking meters or posters). ➡️ When scanned, these can direct you to fraudulent websites designed to steal your details. ✔ Only scan QR codes from trusted, legitimate sources.
